Imagine attending an American football game in a stadium with no scoreboard. For spectators to have any clarity about the game’s progress, someone would need to provide them with important numbers: the score, which down it is, how many yards remain for the next down, and so on. If an announcer broadcast the information over a loudspeaker, there would be a risk that some might not hear it clearly. If more than one person relayed the score and game status to spectators, there would be a risk of misinformation.
