SSDs store data in electrical charges, which slowly leaks over time if left without power. We cannot use SSDs for archival purposes, as a slow leak of electrical charges causes worn out drives to start losing data typically after 1 or 2 years in storage.
SSDs are storage devices that use integrated circuit assemblies as memory to store data persistently. SSD technology primarily uses electronic interfaces compatible with traditional block input/output hard disk drives. SSDs have no moving mechanical components; therefore, SSDs are typically more resistant to physical shock, run silently, and have quicker access time and lower latency.
