It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Google Cloud Pub/Sub is a publish/subscribe service and a real-time messaging service. It allows you to send and receive messages between applications asynchronously, at the same time providing a reliable and persistent queue. Using application-level acknowledgement, it increases reliability.
Undelivered data can be retained for as many as 7 days. Sharding, replication, load-balancing, and partitioning of the incoming data is automatically managed for streaming data.
