Cloud storage classes

Every bucket that we create in cloud storage has three major properties.

  • Every bucket must have a global unique name.
  • Every bucket will have content stored in the region to which the bucket belongs.
  • And the last is the storage class of a bucket. It is standard by default.

We have four different storage classes:

  • Multi-regional storage
  • Regional storage
  • Nearline storage
  • Coldline storage

All storage classes have the same throughput and low latency (time to the first byte, typically tens of milliseconds).

All storage classes will be using the same tools and APIs to access data (such as gsutil and GCP Console), same OAuth, and same granular access controls to secure your data. There will be no minimum object size and pay-for-use ...
