Using functional size measurement in project management requires thorough
knowledge of the scale characteristics. is means that the counted value would be
mapped with the empirical background (such as cost drivers, project characteris-
tics, etc.) in a well-dened statistical manner. e scale type, in particular, decides
the application of the measured results.
Figure2.1 shows the dierent (function) point approaches and their empirical
involvements during the measurement of the functional size.
