Abstract

Compliance with applicable domestic and international law and adherence to certain rules and standards is indispensable when aiming at sending a satellite to outer space, independently of its size. International space treaties and national space legislation provide for a legal framework for the launch and operations of all satellites. Clarifying the specific legal context ahead of the launch between all involved actors contributes to the mitigation of negative surprises down the road.
