So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
CHAPTER 6 Good Editing Is Not Invisible
The next few chapters of this book break rhythm down into three different types:
- Chapter 7 is about physical rhythm, which is what I will call patterns of image and sound.
- Chapter 8 looks at emotional rhythm which is the shaping of rise and fall of emotions in the characters and in the spectators.
- Chapter 9 covers event rhythm, which is sometimes also called movement of plot, movement of story, or even “structure.”
The present chapter provides a brief introduction to each of these rhythm types and makes a case for why it is important to develop skills at perceiving them.
