Chapter 7. Performance
Some of the ideas in this chapter were derived from the Teradata white paper titled âMeasuring Data Warehouse Return on Investment,â by Sid Adelman.
The goal of this chapter is to put data performance in perspective. It is not an in-depth guide on how to design or tune. (High Performance Client Server, by Chris Loosley and Frank Douglas is an excellent book on this subject). It does, however, identify each of the key components of performance, address the critical success factors, and highlight the steps an organization must take to ensure systems meet performance expectations.
