11.1 Overview
In its current form, native multicast and multicast VPN traffic is not label-switched in the network core. Even if the underlying infrastructure uses MPLS for forwarding traffic, multicast traffic is transported as pure IP (or unlabeled) traffic. Therefore it is safe to state that all the principles of implementation discussed in Chapter 10, “Cisco IOS and IOS-XR Quality-of-Service Implementation for IP Internet Services,” can be used for this category of traffic, too.
