Creating and Editing SVG
To get started creating and viewing Scalable Vector Graphics images, you need two types of tools—something to create SVG with and something that allows you to view SVG onscreen.
You can, when you understand SVG syntax, create SVG documents or images with a text editor. An alternative way to produce SVG images, and perhaps the one you will initially find more convenient, is to use a vector graphics drawing package capable of handling SVG. Throughout this book, I use hand coding because that technique helps me bring out the techniques or points I want you to understand and that help you build up a range of knowledge and skills in SVG.
