About the Author
Nick Willoughby is a UK-based filmmaker, director, actor, and writer who has a real enthusiasm and love for film. Nick’s passion for filmmaking started when he wrote his first short film at the age of 18. Since then, he’s been inspiring young people to bring their stories to life through the art of film.
Nick started his career as an actor and went on to experience a wide range of roles within the media industry, from camera operator to director. After offering his skills to schools as a film tutor and consultant, he set up Filmmaking for Kids, which aims to encourage and inspire young people to develop their creativity through the art of film. Nick now facilitates the courses at Filmmaking for Kids while writing and directing films, corporate videos, and commercials with his UK production company, 7 Stream Media.
Author’s Acknowledgments
Writing Digital Filmmaking For Kids For Dummies was an honor and an amazing experience. So many people have supported me as a filmmaker and inspired me as a writer — too many to list on this one page.
You wouldn’t have this book in your hand if it wasn’t for the inspiration of executive editor Steve Hayes and the support from project manager Chris Morris. Steve and Chris have made writing this book a painless process (even if we are 4,000 miles apart).
It’s been a pleasure working with a fantastic group of young filmmakers to make the films to support this book. I want to thank Ashish, Josh, Luiz, Paige, Poppy, Roo, and Skye. ...
