CHAPTER 11José Clastornik: Uruguay
José Clastornik is an international consultant in digital transformation and has previously held different executive positions in public and private institutions.
During the fourteen years in which José performed as national CIO and Executive Director of AGESIC (the Information Society and e-Government Agency) in Uruguay, his country rose to leadership positions in the region in areas of digital and open government, digital rights, cybersecurity, and ICT industry development.
José has been a member of the board in different national and international organizations, including chaired the Network of Electronic Government Leaders of Latin America and the Caribbean (RedGEALC), and the Digital Agenda for Latin America and the Caribbean (eLAC).
He was recognized by Apolitical as one of the twenty most influential leaders in digital government worldwide and received the lifetime achievement award from LACNIC for his contribution to the development of the internet in Latin American and Caribbean countries.
José is in many ways the grandfather, or at least the godfather, of the digital government family in all of Latin America.
