Use of Distributed Photovoltaic Grid Power Transformers
As the name suggests, distributed photovoltaic grid transformers (DPV-GTs) are primarily used to transmit solar energy harnessed using photovoltaic (PV) systems, where a DC energy source is suitably converted by inverters to the AC form. The initial ratings (up to 1000 VA, 1.1 kV) of these transformers were suitable for residential application. Over the course of the last decades the suitability has increased to a level now of up to 10,000 VA, 33 kV.
