allyship. The continuous process in which someone with privilege and power seeks to learn about the experiences of a marginalized group of people and empathize with their challenges, build relationships with that group of people, and use their privilege and power to promote fair treatment and respect for that group of people.
antiracist. Engaging in behaviors that actively challenge and work to disrupt systems of racism in society. Ibram X. Kendi, one of the foremost thought leaders in antiracism, defines an antiracist as “One who is supporting an antiracist policy through their actions or expressing an antiracist idea” (Kendi 2019).
