It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
G.2 Version Control
With a package manager, you will be able to install a distributed version control system. This book uses git, but it is certainly not the only option available. Using version control in software projects makes your life significantly easier and allows you to share your code or contribute to online projects on websites such as Github.
