Filmmaker Alex Gibney founded Jigsaw Productions in 1982, and in the years since has produced films with partners including Participant Productions, Magnolia Films, Sony Pictures Classics, ZDF-ARTE, BBC, and PBS. The company’s website notes that Gibney is “well known for crafting stories that take an unflinching look at the political landscape of America.” When we spoke in 2010, his film Casino Jack and the United States of Money had just premiered at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. Other recent films included Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson; Taxi to the Dark Side, the 2008 Academy Award winner for Best Documentary Feature; and Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room, nominated for the 2006 Academy Award. ...
