Jeanine, a successful business owner of three shoe stores in a tri-city area, inadvertently fell into Ego Trap 3: surrounding yourself with more of you. After a longtime general manager retired from one of the stores, Jeanine—a sparky, middle-aged entrepreneur with a gift for sales—took replacing the person very seriously. The role of general manager was vital to the success of her company: it involved managing part-time employees and their weekly schedules; coordinating directly with Jeanine on inventory and accounting; ensuring high-quality customer service; and managing many other tasks that kept the stores running smoothly on a daily basis.
