Appendix B. Installing and Configuring the J2EE Reference Server

Sun offers a full-featured, easy-to-use J2EE/EJB application server. This server, known as the J2EE Reference Server, Reference Server, or Ref Server (depending on how many times you’ve said its name in one day) is available from Sun’s Web site at http://www.sun.com/j2ee.

The two primary components in the installation package are the Reference Server proper and a small-footprint relational database named Cloudscape. Cloudscape is used to store and retrieve BookEaz’s Entity Bean instances.

This appendix explains how to install the Reference Server and configure it to work with the tutorial in the first half of this book.
