Message-Driven Beans are the new kid on the EJB block, having been introduced as part of the EJB 2.0 specification in June 2001. MDBs form the nexus of two proven technologies: EJB life-cycle management, provided by the EJB container, and J2EE’s Java Message Service (JMS), provided by the J2EE Application Server. MDBs simplify the still arduous task of implementing asynchronous messaging systems by reducing the coding scope for message recipients; however, they have no impact on the effort expended in message-sending classes.
