The lifecycle of a composite material is shown in Figure 5.8. This cycle has three main steps [LET 00, BEN 06b]:
– The first step is the implementation of the material that can be used, depending on the desired type of final product, by different processes such as molding, pultrusion, and filamentary winding. The product thus obtained is a finished or a semi-finished product.
– They are then transformed into finished products after the forming and/or assembly step.
– The composite components are in operation and thus subject to wear and fatigue. They then go through control or maintenance services, and if they are not reusable for operation they are recycled.
