Promotion of IOD Activities
Abstract
Along with the international organizations, several national organizations in different countries are also playing important role in the promotion of IOD activities. Some of these organizations promote IOD activities by taking direct measures, while some others do so indirectly by providing funds, or by training required manpower or by evolving tools and standards, and some others take both direct and indirect measures for doing so. Notable among the international agencies promoting IOD activities are different UN agencies, such as FAO, UNESCO, UNIDO, UNEP, ESCAP, and WHO; World Bank; European Commission; and IDRC.
