Arbuscular Mycorrhiza in Crop Improvement under Environmental Stress

Plants are continuously confronted by a variety of environmental stresses at various stages in their development. Extremely harse environmental conditions lead to oxidative stress because of the toxicities of certain ions and the overproduction of reactive oxygen species. Various stress-tolerance strategies are triggered that help plants to overcome/mitigate the stress-induced deleterious effects. These include morphological adaptations, osmoregulation, and enhanced activities of enzymatic as well as nonenzymatic antioxidants.
