XSLT is an XML-based language for expressing new documents in terms of old ones. XSLT allows a stylesheet document to contain templates that act as exemplars of the target schema. Templates contain literal result elements and XSLT instructions, both of which make extensive use of XPath expressions to incorporate information from the source document as part of the result document. The XSLT language has many of the constructs found in traditional programming languages, including variables, functions, conditional statements, and iteration statements.
