I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Just as critic Northrop Frye noted that “poetry can only be made out of other poems; novels out of other novels,” so it is with all art, including photography. This book is about the spirit of transmitting knowledge and as such I would like to thank the teachers who have made a difference to me: Mr. Gordon Rice, my high school art teacher, for giving me the hope to pursue a life involving photography; Dr. Stan McKenzie, for encouraging me to think and write; Professor Judith Harold-Steinhauser, for supporting experimentation and group interaction; Professor Arthur A. Terry, for not being a hypocrite; and the numerous imagemakers and writers who have shaped my thinking.
