So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
11.6. Brightening Movie Clip Instances
Problem
You want to brighten a movie clip instance.
Solution
Apply a brightness percentage to the instance.
Discussion
You can create the effect of brightening or lightening a movie clip instance by applying a brightness percentage to it. The default value for brightness is 0%, which represents the original colors. As the percentage increases, the colors get lighter and lighter until, at 100%, all the colors are completely white. You can access an instance’s brightness settings by selecting the instance and then choosing the Brightness option from the Color Styles menu in the Property inspector. After you have selected the Brightness option, the control for selecting/entering the percentage appears to the right of the Color Styles menu.
