An operational proﬁle is a numerical description of how a program is used.

In accordance with the above deﬁnition, a program might have several

operational proﬁles depending on its users.

Example 1.10: Consider a TPSU program which, on any given execu-

tion, allows any one of two types of input sequences. One sequence

consists of numbers only and the other consists of alphanumeric
