So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
What we’ll do in this chapter
- generate a new Phoenix application—without Ecto
- bring in our game engine as a dependency
- incorporate our game engine in the web interface’s supervision tree

Phoenix is a great web framework. It’s fast, really fast. Its components are familiar and easy to work with. Phoenix is lightweight, modular, and explicit. There’s almost no hidden magic. That’s a big boost for maintainability.
