3.10 New Trends

In this section, we’ll show you some trends that are related to LLMs. LLMs provide really good results, but they struggle to provide reliably good results on complex reasoning tasks. For that, models are equipped with reasoning capabilities, and we’ll visit these models in Section 3.10.1.

Another bottleneck is the sheer size of the models. Good models are so large that they require expensive hardware. Small language models are the little siblings of LLMs and their target is that ideally edge-devices like smartphones or notebooks can be equipped with them, without losing too much performance. In Section 3.10.2 we’ll find out how capable these models already are.
