The initial heading in this chapter, global operations strategy, is something of a conundrum in that operations is typically viewed as a group of activities, behaviors, or generally things that we do. Strategy, on the other hand, is a plan, a scheme, or even a policy-oriented undertaking. The former is normally focused on the short term, and the latter is characteristically long-term in orientation. So, what do we get when we combine “operations” and “strategy”?
