Controlling DTS through Automation

In my opinion, the real power of DTS is in its programmability. The DTS Designer is elegant enough that practically anyone can use it and be productive with it. However, more sophisticated data transformations often require direct access to the DTS object model from custom programs. You'll need to be able to configure and control what occurs and when it happens using custom application code, just as you do with other types of SQL Server applications.

Getting into a detailed discussion of the DTS object model is beyond the scope of this book. Several books have already been written on this subject, and I don't have the space or time to do it justice here. As I said at the outset, it's not my intent to explore ...
