Imagine we're building a 2D side-scrolling arcade platformer. That is, you have your character, which you control with arrow keys or a gamepad. Your character can move left, right, and jump.
Since we're a really small indie company consisting of one developer (who is also a graphic designer, product manager, and sales representative), two cats, and a canary named Michael, we use only sixteen colors in our game. And our character is 64 pixels tall and 64 pixels wide. We call him Maronic, and that's also the name of our game.
Our character has a lot of enemies, which consist mostly of carnivorous Tanzanian snails:
