Optimizing performance using views

To showcase the optimization of queries using views, let's create a big dataset. The steps to optimize performance using views are as follows:

1. Use the following code to create the biggest dataset we have used in this book so far:

Data Dealership_Looped;   Do i = 1 to 1000000;      Do j = 1 to n;         Set Dealership Nobs=n Point=j;         Output;         End;      End;   Stop;Run;

We have leveraged the dealership data and looped it a million times to create a dataset with 36 million records.

2. Use the following code to create a table where 1 new column is added and then Proc Means is run on it:

Proc SQL;  Create Table Multiplier As    Select *, Avg_Price*1.5 As Avg_new  From Dealership_Looped;Quit; Proc Means Data = Multiplier;Var Avg_New;
