%BQUOTE masks special characters such as parentheses, quotation marks, mathematical operators, and semi-colons. The advantage that %BQUOTE has over other functions, such as %STR, is that unmatched quotation marks, parentheses, and percent signs do not have to be used in conjunction with %.
