In a risk regulatory framework, an analyst will be required to build models to assess credit, market, operational, or non-financial risk and submit the models to the regulator for approval. In such a scenario, the analyst will have to store the datasets that are so that regulators can recreate the results independently if needed on a static dataset. If the same analyst worked in the pharmaceutical clinical trial sector, there would be a similar need for preserving the datasets that were used.
