The internal training that was carried out resulted

in an improved understanding of how RP could be of

use in the product development process. Besides the

functional prototypes, the product development staff

argued that plastic RP models could increase prod-

uct development precision further through early form,

function and fitment tests.

The project shows that for a company with minor

previous knowledge to approach RP, using an RP facil-

itator could assist in selecting the optimal RP method.

Without this extra expertise, the company could have

difficulties identifying the internal needs, the demands

to put to the RP method and to choose suitable method

and contractor.
