It's bad enough being belittled, humiliated, harassed, bullied, intimidated or abused, but the situation is even worse if bystanders fail to do anything about it.
Witnessing the unacceptable behaviour of one person towards another – discrimination, harassment or bullying etc. – can make you feel uncomfortable. You might say or do something – be an active bystander, or ‘upstander’ – or you might choose to let it go and remain a passive bystander.
