Virtualization – downloading VirtualBox
Virtualization is one of the keystone tools in the developer's toolbox. It is used in a number of different phases of the development process. Our focus for this recipe will be on testing. But first, I want to mention how it can be used further upstream in the process. Setting up virtual machines allows you to use your preferred operating system and toolset in a shop that only provides and supports different ones. For example, if you need to be able to use Visual Studio but don't want to use Windows, you can spin up a virtual machine and develop applications on it. You can also use a LAMP stack on a virtual machine and spin it up.
