Let’s consider the perspectives of different avatars and let’s start with the word profile.
A profile—that is, the classic, portrait-style profile—is a side view of a person. Profiles are silhouettes, or two-dimensional representations. Social media profiles (on Flickr, YouTube, and so on) or social networking profiles (Facebook, LinkedIn, and the like) are a bit like this as well. They show a relatively flat view of a person or character (real or fictional).
