It can be wonderfully exciting to discover new and perhaps surprising things about how the world works—that’s the fascination of research. Research can also be hard work, and there are lots of things we need to think about to avoid jumping to unjustified conclusions. A good scientist is always questioning, always skeptical, always looking for error and thinking carefully about alternative explanations.
