When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Appendix: The esci Software
esci (“ESS-key”) is Estimation Statistics with Confidence Intervals. It comprises two major components, esci and esci web:
- esci, for data analysis with an emphasis on estimation and meta-analysis, and figures that feature confidence intervals, often with a difference axis to make differences salient.
- esci in jamovi is esci running as a module in jamovi and is used extensively in this book. More details below.
- esci in R is esci running as a stand-alone application for users of the computer language R.
- esci in JASP will soon, we hope, be esci running as a module in JASP (https://jasp-stats.org).
- esci web, a set of simulations and statistical tools freely available on any browser.
