Vendor Support

The techniques described in this chapter do not help if your hardware and applications do not support IPv6. The number of vendors who support IPv6 is growing daily. To give you a list here doesn’t make sense. By the time this book hits the shelves, this list would be outdated. In our test lab, we have used the implementations of Microsoft (Windows 2000 research stack and Windows XP built in stack), Suse Linux 7.0, Sun Solaris, and Cisco. These vendors have been helpful in providing information and supporting us. Many other vendors have stacks ready. The following sites can help you get updated information when you need it:

For information on implementations that are updated to IPv6, refer to http://www.ipv6.org/impl/index.html. Another good site for this kind of information can be found at http://playground.sun.com/pub/ipng/html/ipng-implementations.html. For a list of IPv6-enabled applications, go to http://www.ipv6.org/v6-apps.html.
