Modeling has taken a strong foothold in software development and is undoubtedly here to stay. The UML was created to provide the software development community with a standard, unified modeling language. The UML has a rich history and was created by some of the most well-respected methodologists in the software industry.
While modeling is not the silver bullet for software development, it has numerous benefits, which include enhanced communication, validation of our design theories, and helping to simplify an inherently difficult process. By taking advantage of these benefits, we can produce systems that will survive as the demands of our users and business change.
