Critical Reflection

Nonetheless, although the concept was recognized and up-and-running, the theory of experiential learning did not gain prominence until the work of Jack Mezirow, Paulo Freire, Anthony Gregorc, and Carl Rogers in the 1980s who stressed that the focal point of all learning lies in the way experience is processed, in particular in its critical reflection (Gregorc, 1998; Rogers, 1994). They spoke of learning as a cycle that begins with experience, continues with reflection, and later leads to action, which itself becomes a concrete experience available for the next round of reflection.
