So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

As you can see, we have used the apply() method to save preferences, which commits the changes in the in-memory SharedPreferences immediately, but also starts an asynchronous commit to the disk; commit(), on the other hand, writes to persistent storage synchronously.
