So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

This section explains self-leadership and leader development — the foundation of leadership development — and outlines a range of strategies to develop individual leaders. It comprises four chapters.
- Chapter 6 explains initiation, and why and how leaders need to be initiated.
- Chapter 7 addresses self-leadership and leader development.
- Chapter 8 examines virtues, emotions, and character and signature strengths.
- Chapter 9 covers motivation, commitment and self-engagement.
Self-leadership is the ability to lead ourselves to achieve the direction and motivation necessary to positively influence our own performance. Self-leadership is related to empowering yourself by gaining self-efficacy — the level of belief in your own ability to reach goals and complete tasks.
