Acknowledgments
Creating a book is a challenging task that requires an effort from many people. I owe enormous thanks to Andy Oram, my acquisitions and technical editor, for noticing the value of my original manuscript and extending me a contract to write a real book. Andy has not only taught me a tremendous amount about writing, but he has so often impressed me with his remarkable understanding of COM and his extraordinary recommendations that made the book better. Without Andy, this book would not have landed in your hands right now.
Mary Kirtland deserves high praise and much appreciation for reviewing this book. Mary not only read the book very carefully and thoroughly, but also generously made key recommendations that made the book much more accurate and up-to-date. Of course, I must also thank Saji Abraham because, without Saji’s help, this book would never have reached Mary.
Besides Andy Oram, the only other person who read every chapter of the book prior to technical review was Hoang Lam. Thanks to Hoang for reading the first draft of every chapter in this book and ensuring that the technical information given was accurate. Thanks to Shaun Flisakowski for using his valuable time to review the whole book during technical review. Other people who read partial drafts and returned feedback included Kevin Thai, Huy Thai, Tim Kroll, Janusz Wnek, Roger Bradford, Richard Bankhead, Steve Friedl, and Jay Chapman.
Without the production staff at O’Reilly, there would be no book. Thanks ...
