Create Your Own

One of the best things about open source projects is that anyone can create one—including you. In fact, I strongly recommend that you create an open source project of your own—even if you don’t think anyone else will ever use it. Maybe no one ever will use it, but creating an open source project will teach you a lot of important lessons. Things that seem pretty important, such as code quality, structure, documentation, and testing, will become even more important as you publish your code for the world to see. And who knows? Maybe someone will find your project and start using it or, even better, contribute to it.
