Finding a Project
For me, finding an open source project to which I can contribute is the hardest part. You want to find a project on which you can make meaningful contributions, or even any contribution at all. That means projects such as Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Linux might seem a little out of reach. Instead, you might get started by contributing to one of the open source libraries that you actually use while building your software. A Grunt plug-in might be a good project to start with because these are relatively small in scope.
