This book introduced a wide range of competencies—including curiosity, grit, optimism, execution, change management, business acumen, diplomacy, and mental health strategies—along with frameworks essential to effective security leadership. In this appendix, we’ll explore how these translate into practical action through a real-world, high-impact scenario involving a technology that poses unprecedented challenges to security: artificial intelligence (AI).

When generative AI exploded into the mainstream in late 2022, security leaders worldwide faced a moment of truth: How do you respond to a technology that simultaneously creates unprecedented threats and opportunities, all while your organization is demanding immediate answers about policy, governance, and strategy?
