Chapter 6 Eigenvalues

In Section 6.1, we will be concerned with the equation $A x = λ x$ . This equation occurs in many applications of linear algebra. If the equation has a nonzero solution x, then $λ$ is said to be an eigenvalue of A and x is said to be an eigenvector belonging to $λ$ .
